Bentley Systems Acquires C3 Global
Bentley Systems, Incorporated, a global leader dedicated to providing architects, engineers, constructors, and owner-operators with comprehensive architecture and engineering software solutions for sustaining infrastructure, recently acquired C3global, the U.K.-based provider of web-based Amulet software for operational analytics.
Bentley’s AssetWise platform serves configuration management, asset health monitoring, inspection, maintenance and compliance for infrastructure assets. The platform combines 2D/3D intelligent infrastructure models and point clouds with engineering information and asset performance management, delivering an enterprise platform to manage assets throughout their entire lifecycle.
C3global’s Amulet toolset retrieves data from disparate sources and turns it into meaningful information by putting it into context. It provides a complete and clear picture of an operation’s performance and efficiency. By converging information from IT and Operational Technologies, Amulet Predictive Analytics™ helps to predict and manage events.
The newly created AssetWise Amulet can now deliver additional actionable insights, extending Bentley's asset performance management to include C3global’s asset performance modeling. AssetWise Amulet offers unique value in applying predictive and prescriptive analytics that are easily configurable at industrial scale to leverage just-in-time data for improved operational efficiencies. AssetWise Amulet is designed to integrate and analyze “big data” generated by a wide range of external applications and systems – from SQL or Oracle databases to enterprise data warehouses, industrial data historians, and control systems, as well as maintenance and work order management systems. In conjunction with AssetWise-certified integrations to SAP EAM, IBM Maximo, and Oracle eAM, AssetWise Amulet will help drive the right actions at the right time, reducing operational risks and improving operational efficiency.
Paula Hollywood, senior analyst, ARC Advisory Group says, “Advanced analytics helps break down the barriers between operational technology and information technology, facilitating more effective decision making.” Hollywood added, “Our research shows that the use of advanced analytics can reduce costs, increase efficiency and drive higher performance. The acquisition of C3global by Bentley Systems is a leading indicator of industrial-scale progress being made to help organizations optimize asset performance and achieve business goals.”
“All of us at C3global look forward to working side by side with our new colleagues at Bentley to further advance just-in-time data analysis for improved decision making and, ultimately, enhanced asset performance and owner-operator value,” says C3global CEO David Smith. “Given the unprecedented convergence of big data from the Internet of Things, hybrid computing and BIM’s advancement of functional engineering models, joining with Bentley to introduce asset performance modeling for industrial-scale infrastructure was absolutely compelling. Moreover, Bentley’s comprehensive portfolio of software for sustaining infrastructure will offer new and exciting opportunities to more broadly apply AssetWise Amulet’s operational analytics capabilities.”
Founded in 1984, Bentley has more than 3,000 colleagues in over 50 countries, more than $600 million in annual revenues, and since 2006 has invested more than $1 billion in research, development, and acquisitions.
