Flowserve is one of the world’s largest supplier of pumps and related fluid handling equipment. The Texas-based pump manufacturer also manufactures seals and valves and provides a full range of related flow management services to its customers.

In the 1980s, Flowserve began integrating its products into snow-making systems. Along with their partner, Torrent Engineering & Equipment, LLC, Flowserve has installed systems at more than 500 ski resorts around the world, including the site of the 2014 Winter Olympics.

“I’m confident that our products will exceed expectations for the Olympic ski events,” says Mark Blinn, Flowserve President and Chief Executive Officer. “We have a legacy of more than 200 years of flow control product development and have participated in hundreds of snow-making systems across the globe. I’m proud to know that our products will play a vital role in the overall experience for the athletes at the upcoming winter games.”

The Sochi Winter Olympics are kept snowy by more than 20 Flowserve vertical turbine high-pressure pumps installed on site. The pumps are only part of the snow-making system; their job is to pull in large amounts of water to convert to snow.
