Gardner Denver Thomas Expands Miniature Diaphragm Pump Product Platform

Gardner Denver Thomas provides vacuum pump and compressor solutions for OEMs worldwide. In Puchheim, Germany, the Gardner Denver brand has expanded its successful product platform of Jade miniature diaphragm pumps to include several important features in its 1410 and 1420 models, offering unique advantages to the user.

Jade 1410 and 1420 models are now equipped with electronically commutated motors (also known as brushless DC or BLDC motors). High torque and wide speed control range of the motors allows users to infinitely adjust the pneumatic output of the diaphragm pumps. The free volume flow of the Model 1410 can be infinitely adjusted from < 1.0 to 5.5 l/min, while the twin version 1420 can be infinitely adjusted from < 2.0 to 11.0 l/min. A four-core cable incl. plug delivers DC voltage (12 or 24V) to the motors’ integrated control electronics.

The motor speed and corresponding pneumatic output of the pump can be changed through the set point input using either analog from 0 to 5 VDC or pulse width modulation (also PMW signal). The speed adjusts as the pressure increases, giving the pump its characteristic very stiff curve.

The electronically commutated motors translate to a completely maintenance-free and nearly wear-free pump with a useful life of up to 20000 hours with normal operation. The pumps have already been rated as most efficient in their performance class for use in fuel cells.

Featuring ultra-light, compact, and closed construction, the pumps are ideal for installation in devices used for medical and analytical systems, laboratory applications, or general mechanical engineering.
