Grundfos A/S wins productivity award

Pump manufacturer Grundfos A/S earned the Productivity 2012 Award from the Confederation of Danish Industries, the company recently announced. Grundfos A/S, the group's Danish production company, witnessed a 23 percent increase in its productivity over two years.

Niels Moller Jensen, MD of Grundfos A/S, says that there's a connection between the productivity and employee job satisfaction. The staff has been highly involved in the process and in helping create positive results. The company received the award earlier this month at the DI Productivity Conference in Denmark.

The productivity increases are the result of a two-year effort. The company created its own model of lean production, called Grundfos Shopfloor Excellence. While the company used to aim for a productivity increase of 5 percent, they saw it shoot up to 14 percent in 2010 and another 9 percent in 2011.

The increases have helped the Danish company gain a competitive edge, and keep jobs from being exported, according to the news release.
