This October, Maag, a member of Pump Solutions Group (PSG), launched its new 6th generation gear pumps at K 2013. An international trade fair for plastics and rubber, K’13 took place in Dusseldorf, Germany from October 16 to 23.

Maag’s Generation 6 gear pumps are designed to offer an industry-leading price/performance ratio and up to 50% higher performance than other gear pumps on the market. Every component of the gear, from gears and shafts to bearings and seals, was reworked to provide maximum efficiency and versatility.

Among the features of Generation 6 gear pumps are:

  • Higher volumetric efficiency – Operates at reduced rpm shear rates and temperatures, increasing overall pump life while reducing energy use by 5 to 10%.

  • Enhanced pump geometry – Ideal for manufacturers of easily degradable products. During degassing stages, minimum fill levels translate to reduced residence time.

  • Improved pressure capabilities – Finer filter meshes can be used. Combined with higher volumetric efficiency and fewer pulsations, this ensures consistent quality and output of the final product.

The gear pump series is available in multiple sizes covering throughput ranges from a few kg/h up to 100 t/h, with application-optimized design options. Sizes 250 and above are currently available, with others to be introduced in 2014.

Maag also offers alternative housing designs for its polymer extraction pumps, with matching interfaces to older pump generations. This ensures minimum installation costs for customers seeking cost-effective solutions for their existing facility.
