Mark Sullivan Appointed Director of Education & Training at Pump Systems Matter
The Hydraulic Institute is North America’s largest pump association and the global authority on pumps and pumping systems. Recently, the organization appointed Mark. J. Sullivan as the new Director or Education and Training for its 501(c)3 education/training affiliate, Pump Systems Matter (PSM).
Sullivan will lead strategic development, marketing, and PSM educational programs for the company as well as guide personnel certification initiatives. PSM offers training that focuses specifically on how to improve profitability of end-users through pump optimization and energy savings.
“To support our ongoing growth with Pump Systems Matter, we are pleased to have Mark join our HI and PSM organizations, bringing his marketing educational/training background and industrial knowledge base,” says Robert Asdal, Hydraulic Institute’s Executive Director. “We are confident he will further expand our reach in leading new educational programs to advance the global pump industry and build a stronger value proposition to pump users.”
Prior to his appointment as Director or Education and Training for PSM, Sullivan served as Chief Marketing Officer at Wittenberg University in Springfield, OH. During his tenure there, he increased enrollment by accessing untapped U.S. markets, fostered new educational opportunities, and increased revenue streams for the institution.
Sullivan has worked for a broad range of corporations around the world and has experience with electronic technologies, healthcare, the pump industry, and educational institutions. Before Wittenberg, he held marketing communication management positions in business-to-business markets, including leading corporations such as Goulds Pumps. He has also held senior management positions at both profit and non-profit organizations working to develop effective educations programs and strategic marketing plans.
Sullivan, a resident of New Jersey, earned his M.A. degree in Communications from the S.I. Newhouse School of Communications at Syracuse University and a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communications from State University of New York at Oswego. Sullivan was the recipient of the NJ Communication Award and has given presentations to Fortune 500 companies regarding successful digital strategies and comprehensive integrated marketing programs. He also served as a member of the International Public Relations Association and on the committee for the American Association for Higher Education.
