Pentair Supplies to Desalination Plants in Water Scarce Regions
Pentair provides pump systems and products for use in water and other fluids, thermal management, and equipment protection to its network of global customers. The company is dedicated to providing clean water solutions in water-scarce regions around the world, and recently won contracts to supply equipment and expertise at desalination facilities in Saudi Arabia, Morocco, Oman and India. With the help of Pentair products, these desalination facilities convert sea water to more than 500 million liters of clean water every day.
"As fresh water demands increase in regions with an abundance of seawater, due to both a growing population and increased manufacturing needs, Pentair is uniquely positioned to partner with municipalities and industry to increase the potable water supply," says Todd Gleason, senior vice president of growth for Pentair. "Our proprietary membranes, membrane housings, pumps, valves, controls and filters work together to create highly efficient, integrated solutions for a variety of customer needs."
A large city on the coast of India which relies on water tankers to supply municipal water directly to residents is one such beneficiary of Pentair’s integrated solutions. A planned desalination plant, furnished with equipment and expertise from Pentair’s Valves & Controls and Filtration & Process businesses, will supply fresh water to the city’s five million residents.
Pentair products and technologies used in desalination projects include its X-Flow ultrafiltration membranes, CodeLine membrane housings, Vanessa and Keystone valves and Biffi and Alpha-Max actuators. The company’s technologies are some of the most innovative and advanced in the industry, providing solutions to critical water shortages throughout the world.
