Pump manufacturer Wilden Pump upgrades its Wil-Flex diaphragmsMay 05, 2011
Pump manufacturer Wilden Pump, which specializes in air-operated double diaphragm pumps, has improved the design of its Wil-Flex diaphragms to make them easier to install. The company recently announced that the Wil-Flex diaphragms now come in a flat profile design, meaning that you no longer need to invert the diaphragm when rebuilding the pump.
The upgraded Wil-Flex diaphragms are made of Santoprene, a thermoplastic elastomer that links EPDM rubber and polypropylene. The Wil-Flex are a low-cost alternative to PTFE diaphragms. They are designed to easily handle abrasion and wide swing in pH levels, making the diaphragms well-suited for paint and coating applications. The Wil-Flex's thermoplastic qualities provide inherent tensile strength and the diaphragms don't need to be reinforced with fabric.
Wil-Flex diaphragms are currently available for use on the Advanced Series Metal 25mm (1”) bolted stainless steel and aluminum, 38mm 1-1/2”) bolted stainless steel, and 76mm (3”) bolted stainless steel and aluminum models. Wilden’s Advanced bolted pumps also include the Pro-Flo X air distribution system that allows the pump user to control the flow rate and maximize efficiency to reduce processing costs.
