Sulzer Pumps opens its second factory in ChinaDecember 02, 2010
Sulzer opened its second factory in China, the company recently announced. Located in Suzhou, the factory manufactures engineered pumps for the oil and gas and power generation markets. Suzhou is about 100 kilometers west of Shanghai.
The new pump factory employs 110 people. Sulzer experts from around the world began training the employees more than a year ago. Engineering and procurement teams have already been working on several major orders and manufacturing recently started. The plant is in the midst of ISO certification and expects to be certified by early next year.
Kim Jackson, Division President of Sulzer Pumps, and Zhou Weigiang, Vice-Mayor of Suzhou, attended the official opening ceremony last week along with more than 300 customers and government officials. The modern pump factory brings Sulzer's most advanced engineered pump technology to China. It integrates best practices building on lean principles from other major Sulzer Pumps factories, ensuring competitive operational excellence and meeting Sulzer’s global standards for high quality and delivery.
Sulzer has another production facility in Dalian, China. That plant makes products for the Hydrocarbon Processing and Pulp and Paper industries. In addition to the manufacturing facilities in Dalian and Suzhou, Sulzer Pumps has sales offices in Shanghai and Beijing.
