Sulzer Pumps to Supply FPSO Vessels in Brazil

Sulzer Pumps is a leading pump manufacturer for the global oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, water and wastewater, pulp and paper, and power generation markets. The company received an order for 42 pumps to be installed on two Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels received an order for 42 pumps to be installed on two Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessels (P-66 and P-69) that will operate off the coast of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Keppel FELS Brasil S/A awarded the order through its affiliate Lindel Private Limited after being awarded the contracts for the fabrication and integration of the two FPSO vessels by a consortium led by Petrobras. Including this order, Sulzer Pumps will be supplying to a total of eight Petrobras FPSOs currently under construction and more than 1,300 pumps already in service in offshore Brazil.

The order consists of pump packages for seawater lift, water injection, and auxiliary services. The seawater lift packages include a range of vertical pumps driven by 960kW submersible electric motors; the water injection packages include API 610 BB5 pump models driven by 5.5 MW electric motors. Additional pumps are used for the various auxiliary services essential to FPSO operations, such as cooling water circulation, hot water circulation, and water injection pump boosting.

The pump packages are schedules for delivery in 2014 and will be built at Sulzer Pumps’ development, manufacturing, and distribution facility in Jundiaí, São Paulo. Sulzer Pumps has had a presence in Brazil since 1948 and currently operates two manufacturing facilities and three service centers in the country that employ approximately 700 people.
