In the wake of several large orders for Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) projects around the world this year, Sulzer Pumps won an order for a vessel operating in the Browse Basin offshore Western Australia. The order specifies 69 pumps to Daewoo Shipbuilding and Marine Engineering for installation on a 335-meter FPSO vessel for the INPEX-operated Ichthys LNG Project. The pumps are scheduled for delivery in several phases between mid-2013 and mid-2014.

Sulzer Pumps South Korea will oversee project management and complete unit testing while Sulzer Pumps Customer Support Services based in Western Australia will undertake offshore commissioning and eventual servicing.

The order includes various API 610 pumps including OH3, BB2, and BB5 type for topside and hullside process and utility applications. The pumps will be manufactured at various Sulzer locations around the world, with 40% of the pumps to be packaged at Sulzer’s state-of-the-art facility in Busan, South Korea. Sulzer has had a presence in South Korea since 1986. The service center and packaging facility, opened in 2011, provides engineering, packaging, and testing for bare shaft pumps and components.
