Sulzer to supply pumps for Chinese oil refining projectDecember 04, 2012
Sulzer Pumps plans to supply 40 pumps to PetroChina, the largest oil producer in China for the second phase of Guangxi Oil Refinery Project. The project -- located in the southern part of the country -- will refine imported high sulfur crude oil and aims to supply the surrounding region with 10 million tons of fuel a year. It should be up and running by October 2013.
Sulzer's part of the project includes providing 12 pumps for the residue hydrodesulfurization unit, 18 pumps for the diesel oil hydrotreating unit, and 10 pumps for the oil storage and transportation unit and utility unit. These pumps will help increase the refinery capacity to produce gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, liquefied petroleum gas and other petrochemical products.
The vast majority of Sulzer pumps headed to the Guangxi Oil project will be made at Sulzer facilities in Suzhou and Dalian, with a handful being manufactured at a company plant in Germany. Sulzer has been in China since 1999 and now has two manufacturing facilities, two service centers, nine sales offices and 1,000 employees in the country.
Sulzer Pumps designs, develops and supplies pumping solutions and related equipment worldwide. The company serves customers come from the oil and gas, hydrocarbon processing, power generation, pulp and paper, water and wastewater sectors, as well as from specialized areas in the general industry.
