Weir Minerals Europe has won the Queen’s Award for Enterprise for the second time in recognition of its significant growth in international trade over the past size years.

“The Queen’s Award is a stamp of excellence recognized not only in the UK, but also internationally,” says Tony Locke, managing director of Weir Minerals Europe. “A combination of hard work, technical expertise and the ability to adapt to changing market conditions has allowed us to continue to build our international presence and become a supplier of choice for customers in every territory and sector in which we operate.

Though the company is headquartered in Todmorden, West Yorkshire, over 90 percent of revenue comes from oversea sales. Weir Minerals Europe has customers in over 20 countries worldwide, including many of the world’s largest mining and industrial companies.

Recently, the Weir Minerals Europe has opened new service centers have been opened in Germany, Benelux, Scandinavia, Ukraine, Hungary, Spain, Turkey and Poland. These investments reflect the company’s focus on building and maintaining strong relationships with its customers.

The company also recently invested £5 million in its Todmorden production faculties, which were first built in 1893. The expansion has increased capacity, improved efficiency, reduced lead time to customers, and created local jobs.

Locke says: “I’d like to take this opportunity to thank all of our employees for their commitment over the past six years and beyond, without which this achievement would not have been possible.”
