Xylem Wins Contract for Jinshan District in China
September 30, 2013
Last month, Xylem announced it will supply its WEDECO Ozone treatment system for the Jinshan district - one of the largest districts in Shanghai. The leading global water technology company won the RMB 11.48 million (U.S. $1.87 million) contract to provide an ozone generation and introduction system to provide safe municipal water supply to the district.
“We are honored to have been chosen to help provide high quality and safe potable water for the Jinshan district in Shanghai,” says Shuping Lu, vice president and country director for Xylem China. “This contract is a meaningful example of how Xylem’s reliable and efficient technology is supporting urbanization in the region, as it is the largest ozone contract in China to date.”
The company will provide its WEDECO-branded ozone generation and introduction system and accompanying accessories to the Jinshan First Water Plant, in addition to Xylem’s integrated service package, TotalCareSM. The water plant has a capacity of 400,000 tons of water per day and serves the entire Jinshan district.
As the city of Shanghai has grown, the Jinshan district, located on the southwest coast, has rapidly expanded from a relatively rural area to a more crowded suburb with a permanent population of 730,000. Along with the population boom, a new industrial zone has required the district to seek out a more reliable and efficient water treatment system.
