More information about booster pumps:
Booster pumps are used to increase the pressure of water that is already flowing from one place to another. Most booster pumps are end suction pumps. Some are single-stage, which use a single impeller. Single-stage versions are used in buildings that are far from the municipal water supply, and they’re also useful for smaller-scale irrigation where the water needs to move at a steady rate.
There are also multi-stage booster pumps, which are used to move water up to substantially higher elevations or through long pipelines. Multi-stage types are often used in hilly areas, for both agricultural or personal uses, and they’re also essential in tall buildings.
