More information about metering pumps:
A metering pump moves fluids at adjustable, precise flow rates, in a process known as metering. They are used wherever the flow of a liquid needs to be regularly adjusted to precise levels. They are often used in water treatment applications, chemical plants and other industrial applications.
There are two main classifications of metering pumps:
- Variable displacement pumps adjust the flow by changing the amount of fluid that enters the pump, while the motor always runs at a constant speed.
- Fixed displacement pumps are the opposite. The flow is adjusted by changing the speed of the motor, while the same amount of water is displaced with each revolution.
There are many different types available including piston, diaphragm and peristaltic pumps.

So now what do you do? As many of you know, this is a fairly common occurrence, particularly with pumps that have been around a long time. Here's some advice on what to do.
